Paul Harrington

With a unique combination of military experience and technical expertise, I’ve built a niche practice dealing solely in claims on behalf of servicemen and their dependants against the Ministry of Defence, focusing on equipment-related cases, weapon-related matters and training accidents.

I’ve achieved compensation for servicemen involved in accidents in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Cyprus, Canada, Kenya, France, Germany, Poland, Norway, the USA, Afghanistan, Iraq and the Oman.

I come from a military family and was educated at the Duke of York’s Royal Military School and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. After commissioning in the Army, I studied history and politics at university before returning to the military. Having attended the Junior Division of the Army Staff College, I completed the Ammunition Technical Officers Course, following this with an operational tour in Northern Ireland as a bomb disposal operator.

I finished my legal training after leaving the military, going on to form a general litigation practice before specialising in personal injury.

High profile cases include:

  • £2.2 million for a member of the Parachute Regiment who suffered injuries in a mine blast
  • Over £600,000 for a member of the Royal Marines who was injured as a passenger in a Land Rover incident in Afghanistan
  • Aviation accidents such as the Chinook crash, the Nimrod crash and the USAF F15 crash, as well as a number of other helicopter accidents
