Biography

I am a Partner in the Private Wealth team, specialising in advising high net worth individuals, families and trustees on international and domestic taxation, asset structuring and succession planning.  With UK tax legislation becoming ever more complicated and the penalties for getting it wrong becoming more severe, I work with clients to ensure that their wealth planning is carried out in an efficient and legitimate manner.

What inspired you to get into law?

From a young age, I have always been keen on puzzle solving, which is an important aspect of being a private wealth lawyer. The UK legislation for private wealth changes on an annual basis (and, sometimes, more regularly) meaning that the solution to a problem changes each year. Being a private wealth lawyer is about forming a long-term relationship with clients to ensure their wealth is structured and protected for future generations.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?

For me, the greatest satisfaction is in building a long-term relationship with a client. Each client is unique, with individual circumstances and conditions that require bespoke advice tailored to these circumstances. Finding the 'right' solution will require a detailed knowledge of the client, which grows over time.

What do you do away from the office?

Outside of work, I am a keen runner and golfer, which are two extremely complementary hobbies as I spend most of my time running around the golf course looking for my ball. When not at work or on the golf course I spend most of my time reading 'Dear Zoo' to my young children.

Publications

I regularly write articles that appear in specialist books as well as the national press, and I was recently quoted on the front page of the Daily Telegraph.
