Jane Wright

Prior to becoming a solicitor, I was an NHS physiotherapist working with people who had sustained spinal cord and head injuries. I left physiotherapy to experience new challenges. I have not been disappointed!

I joined Irwin Mitchell as a trainee solicitor in 1990 and became a Partner in 1995. I am passionate about providing a legal service to clients who have sustained life changing injuries. Every client is an individual and the legal service that we provide have clients' expectations and aspirations at its core.

I am an avid advocate for rehabilitation for life with independent and life options being the focus.  I have been involved in a number of ground breaking cases including Sowden v Lodge, Havenhand v Geoffrey and Rowe v Doleman.

I also have an interest in medical ethics; specifically in relation to issues of consent and rights to refuse treatment.

"Proficient", and provides "straightforward, uncomplicated advice" - Legal 500, 2012

What Inspired You To Get Into Law?

I wanted to advocate for people who had sustained life changing injuries, particularly at a time when they are usually least able to advocate for themselves.  I wanted to be part of a team of lawyers dedicated to promoting the rights of an individual to receive reasonable recompense for the wrong doing of others.

What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?

Being part of a process that enables people regain the ability to make choices.

What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?

Every day is an adventure!  I love being surrounded by people who are passionate about providing the best legal service and committed to engaging in innovative law.

What Do You Do Away From The Office?

I love eating, drinking and adventurous holidays.
