David Hilton

I joined Irwin Mitchell in September 2013 as Associate Manager of the Court of Protection team in Manchester.

I am a specialist in the field of Professional Deputyship services and damages management, working closely with individuals who lack capacity to manage their own property and affairs. I am also regularly instructed by lay Deputies and Trustees on a wide range of complex issues and am experienced in all forms of Court of Protection property and affairs applications as well as the establishment of personal Injury Trusts.

I specialise in:

  • Professional Deputyship services / damages management;
  • Personal Injury Trusts;
  • Court of Protection applications; including
    • Statutory Wills;
    • Approval of gifts; and
    • Other stand-alone applications

What Inspired You To Get Into Law?

I always wanted to pursue a career in law ever since I was at school and through lots of hard work and determination I finally succeeded.

What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?

I would have to say that the most rewarding aspect of my role is being part of a network of support for those people that need it most.

What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?

I enjoy working at Irwin Mitchell because it is nationally recognised as being a leader in the field of Court of Protection and as such, I get the opportunity to work with a highly experienced and dedicated team.

Away from work, I enjoy spending time with my young family and have an active lifestyle involving swimming, running, and cycling.  I have previously completed a number of half-marathons as well as the Manchester Marathon, and am keen to take part in another marathon at some point in the near future.
