Anjum Noreen

I am a solicitor based in Irwin Mitchell's Manchester office after joining the Court of Protection department at Irwin Mitchell in November 2012. I have over two years' experience as a lawyer, initially specialising in Islamic finance, personal injury administration, deputyship administration and property purchases.

I specialise in all aspects of Court of Protection as well as personal injury trusts for the young, elderly and vulnerable. The majority of my clients do not have capacity to make decisions relating to their financial affairs due to a brain injury resulting from road traffic accidents, clinical negligence or accidents at work.

My role role involves liaising with various third parties including the Court of Protection, the Office of the Public Guardian, solicitors dealing with personal injury claims, healthcare professionals, financial advisers, architects and case managers. In addition, I have regular contact with the client’s family regarding proposed expenditure and the release of funds.

As a Personal Injury Trust Advisor, I am also the main point of contact in the Manchester office for all personal injury trust referrals from my colleagues in the Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence teams.

My other specialisms include Islamic finance, personal injury administration, deputyship administration and property purchases.

What Inspired You To Get Into Law?

I enjoy Court of Protection work as the tasks that I complete on a daily basis can be complex and demanding. I also gain insight into all aspects of life through my clients and their personal situations.

What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?

I enjoy my role as it is diverse, interesting and challenging. I assist my clients through difficult times to enhance their quality of life following a life changing experience. Every day is different!

What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?

Irwin Mitchell is a national firm and I am pleased to be able to work with talented and experienced professionals, some of whom are experts in their area of law.

What Do You Do Away From The Office?

Outside the office I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Having relocated to Manchester in November 2012, I have found that there is plenty to do and see within this city! I enjoy travelling, sightseeing and making time for the cinema. I am kept busy by my very active son, Subhaan. I love to cook a variety of food - my favourite dishes are spicy chicken pasta and fish pakoras.
