Amanda King-Jones

I specialise in the area of elderly law, mental capacity and social care issues. I've been a Panel Deputy of the Court of Protection since 2001 and was recently reappointed. This means that I am appointed as a professional Deputy by the Court to manage the financial affairs of individuals who have lost mental capacity where an independent deputy is needed: usually because there are complex issues or assets involved.

I have wide experience in probate and succession issues. I've been appointed by the Court in a number of cases either as Judicial Trustee, Trustee or Administrator to carry out complex and disputed estate administration. I also act in a trusted advisor role, and I hold the appointments as Attorney, Trustee and Executor as Director of the firm’s Trust Corporation.

What inspired you to get into law?

Empathy with people combined with the application of intellectual skills.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?

It is rewarding to help find practical solutions for individuals and their families in challenging circumstances. I am referred to by clients as professional and compassionate.

From 2000 to 2014 I was co-author of the Probate Practice Manual published by Thomson Reuters

I am a contributor to the Law Society Elderly Handbook (2016).
