Biography
Anita trained with Irwin Mitchell and qualified as a solicitor in March 2008. She was promoted to the position of Associate in November 2011 and became a partner in May 2015. She is based in our London office.
Anita has a wealth of experience in complex clinical negligence cases, both on behalf of adults and children. First 100 Years "Inspirational Women in Law" award .

What Inspired You To Get Into Law?
I entered the legal profession because I have always fought strongly for what I believe in. I chose to practice clinical negligence because I am passionate about medicine and enjoy the varied nature of my career in that no two cases are ever the same.
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?
I enjoy seeing the difference a compensation award makes to my client's quality of life, particularly those who have suffered life-changing brain or spinal cord injuries.
What Do You Like About Working At Irwin Mitchell?
I enjoy the fact that we have the resources of a large firm, but work in small, close-knit teams, with people who really care about the outcomes for our clients.
What Do You Do Away From The Office?
I am the mother of 3 boys (twins and a toddler) and so life away from the office is incredibly busy! I enjoy spending time with my family, good food and wine. When I do have some spare time, it’s usually spent planning my next holiday.

AR v Kingston Hospital NHS Trust : £8.5 million for a child with quadriplegic cerebral palsy following the hospital's delay in expediting his delivery.Re: HO : £7.4 million for a child who sustained bilateral upper and lower limb amputations as a result of the delayed diagnosis of meningoccal septicaemia.SH v Colchester General Hospital : £6 million for a child who suffered from cerebral palsy as a result of the hospital’s failure to carry out an earlier caesarean section. EW v Barking, Havering and Redbridge Hospitals NHS Trust : £6.6 million for a child who suffered almost total visual loss and learning difficulties as a result of the delayed diagnosis of neonatal hypoglycaemia. MB v East of England Strategic Health Authority : Achieved an admission of liability (with damages still to be assessed) for a child who suffered a brain haemorrhage and consequent brain damage as a result of the failure to administer a Vitamin K injection at birth. RM v Surrey & Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust : Undisclosed amount of compensation recovered for a client who was left in a permanent vegetative state having attempted suicide when he should have been under constant observation whilst at a mental health unit. AF v Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust : Secured an admission of liability (and an undisclosed settlement sum) for a family whose father died as a result of the delayed diagnosis of infected pressure sores.
