Irwin Mitchell Raises £3,000 For Charity Of The Year
Children’s hospice Chestnut Tree House is set to benefit from a record £3,000 donation from Irwin Mitchell’s Gatwick office, after staff at the firm spent all of last year raising funds for the organisation.
Chestnut Tree House was nominated by staff at the office to be their Charity of the Year for 2016 as part of a nationwide initiative developed by the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation.
Established in 1997, IMCF is an independent registered charity set up by the firm which has donated more than £1.5 million to third sector organisations. A recor£163,000 was raised in total across the law firm’s offices in 2016, with the £3,000 for Chestnut Tree House also being a record for the Gatwick office.
Chestnut Tree House is a children’s charity which provides hospice care services and support for young people with life-shortening conditions across Sussex, Brighton and Hove and South East Hampshire.
Vicky Brackett, Regional Managing Partner at Irwin Mitchell’s Gatwick office, said: “We are delighted to be able to provide this record donation to a truly fantastic cause in our local community.
“Our Charity of the Year initiative is something that all of our employees are very passionate about, with everyone pitching in to raise funds in a variety of ways across 2016 to ensure we can provide quality support to this charity.
“Last year was a record-breaking one in terms of our fundraising work and we are very proud to be able to give back to the local communities where we work in this manner.”
The funds raised for Chestnut Tree House will help the hospice to continue to support families in a range of ways, from the provision of advice and information to children with life-threatening conditions to specialist breaks, community care services, end-of-life care and bereavement support.
Terrina Barnes, Corporate Fundraising Manager for Chestnut Tree House said: “We are hugely grateful to everyone at Irwin Mitchell’s Gatwick office for this fantastic donation which will allow us to make a huge difference to a lot of young people’s lives.
“We need to raise a staggering £6,850 per day to provide all our care services – both at the hospice and out in the community across Sussex and South East Hampshire – for children with life-shortening illnesses and their families. With less than 7% of our funding coming from central government, we are almost entirely dependent on the generosity of local businesses and individuals helping us to raise the funds we need to continue providing our specialist care.”
“Working with the Irwin Mitchell across 2016 has been an absolute pleasure and we truly appreciate the hard work and effort which has gone into raising these vital funds.”
