Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth Sponsors International Tournament

Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth (IMPW) is supporting this year’s Aegon Manchester Trophy, dubbed ‘The Wimbledon of the North’.

The law firm is sponsoring the prestigious tournament, which takes place between 11- 18 June at the Northern Lawn Tennis Club, Didsbury, which will see tennis stars from around the globe battle it out on the grass courts.

Since being founded in 1881, the Manchester based club has hosted international tennis events, attracting players including legends John McEnroe, Pete Sampras, Stefan Edberg, Fred Perry, Jimmy Connors, Billie-Jean King, and Margaret Court.

This year the Aegon Manchester Trophy will be a women’s $100k event, which is double the prize money from the 2016 men’s event.

Aside from boasting an idyllic setting and excellent hospitality for guests, the Aegon Manchester Trophy, which was voted Event of the Year  at the  2016 Manchester Sport Awards, offers free travel on the Metrolink and an area for all to come and try tennis.

The sponsorship arrangement comes a year after the national law firm Irwin Mitchell brought together the existing expertise of the teams from Berkeley Law, Berkeley Hurrell, and Thomas Eggar to offer a bespoke legal and advisory service across the UK.

IMPW now has over 40 partners and nearly 500 staff in 15 locations across the UK, including Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield and Newcastle, supporting clients.
