Hotel Purchase Follows £4.5m Funding Deal In 2015
The Coaching Inn Group has announced the acquisition of The Kings Head Hotel in Richmond along with a commitment to invest £1m across its accommodation, food and beverage offering.
The deal to buy the 26-bed hotel represents the 10th to be added to the company’s national portfolio and marks its first acquisition this year.
The hotel first opened its doors in 1717 when it was built as a gentleman's townhouse. It was previously owned by Ashdale Hotels and following the deal it will continue to be run by the existing management team.
The Coaching Inn Group rebranded from the Bulldog Hotel Group in August last year. It acquired four new inns in 2015 and has plans to add more to its estate in 2016.
Last year it also secured a £4.5m investment from BGF (Business Growth Fund) to support its planned £20m expansion across England.
Kevin Charity, founder and managing director of The Coaching Inn Group, said: "The next 12 months will see us invest up to £1m in the property, including refurbishing the accommodation and developing the food and beverage offering and experience, introducing our popular Eatery and Coffee House concept."
Irwin Mitchell advised the company on its funding deal last year and also on its acquisition of The Kings Head Hotel.
Andrea Cropley, a Corporate partner at the Sheffield office of Irwin Mitchell worked on the deal with Associate Michael Hall. Real Estate Associate Kellie Hatton also advised Coaching Inn Group.
