Businesses Offered Free Consultations With IP Specialists
To mark World IP Day on April 26th, national law firm Irwin Mitchell is offering free consultations with its intellectual property (IP) experts.
The World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), a global forum for intellectual property services, policy, information and cooperation, designated April 26 as World IP day in 2000, with the aim of increasing general understanding of IP.
Every year since then World IP Day is celebrated around the world and this year Irwin Mitchell’s IP team are marking the occasion by offering a free 30 minute consultation.
Artists, entrepreneurs, inventors and SME owners are being invited to call IP experts Alex Newman, Georgie Collins, Amy Au or Emma Yates who will be available to discuss the identification, protection, and enforcement of IP, and its commercial exploitation.
Intellectual property is associated with the products of creative ideas and efforts, such as inventions; literary and artistic works; designs; and brands, symbols, and images used in commerce.
Creative ideas and efforts produce valuable, commercially exploitable assets, and the law protects them using various different types of IP right, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and design rights, which give the creator or owner of the work exclusive rights to use or reproduce those assets.
The well-established specialists at Irwin Mitchell advise on IP rights in the UK and internationally and handle advisory, transactional and disputes work across all stages of the IP lifecycle.
From clearing and registering a new brand name, commercialising your rights, to preventing misuse or defending you if disputes arise, the IP lawyers have expertise across a number of sectors, including retail, technology, media, luxury goods, engineering and healthcare.
Expert Opinion
“World IP Day is about highlighting how IP contributes to all areas of life from music and the thriving arts scene, to creating technological innovation, healthcare and engineering.
“We’re passionate about ensuring that products of the creative mind are protected.
“Doing so means creators will not only receive the recognition they deserve, but also protection from unfair competition to ensure they are able to develop existing ideas and continue to create new ones.”
