Double Associate Hire At Irwin Mitchell's Manchester Business Team

Leading Firm Bolsters Its Pensions And Real Estate Divisions

The Manchester office of leading law firm, Irwin Mitchell, has announced the appointment of two associates into its fast growing business team.

Ian Mylrea joins the firm’s Pensions team to work alongside recently appointed partner Andrew Ashley Taylor. Moving from Clyde & Co, Ian has wide-ranging experience of advising corporates, trustees, providers and insurers on the full spectrum of pensions law issues, including corporate M&A, corporate restructuring exercises, funding negotiations, pensions litigation, liability management exercises, pensions insurance contracts. Ian has particular expertise in relation to executive, overseas and international pension schemes.

His appointment marks the latest investment by Irwin Mitchell in growing its national Pensions team. In the last 12 months, the firm has appointed three Pension partners including DWF’s national head of department, Martin Jenkins.

The firm also welcomes Patricia Banno-Thornton who has also joined as an associate in the real estate team. Patricia joins from DLA Piper in Manchester and has a wealth of experience in non-contentious real estate matters, including acquisitions and disposals, investment property and property management matters as well as landlord and tenant work.

The appointments follow a busy month for the firm in which it revealed that following a competitive pitch, it had secured a place on National Grid’s high profile legal panel. Also in August, Irwin Mitchell in Manchester announced its involvement in a major deal involving former Manchester United stars Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs which will see the creation of a multi-million pound new mixed use scheme in Manchester city centre.

The firm also recently announced that its turnover for the 2014/15 financial year increased by 3.9% to £210.6m.
