Inquest To Begin Into The Death Of Newborn Baby

Parents Seeking Answers after Death of Son at Southend Hospital

20.01.2015

An inquest into the death of a newborn baby at a Southend hospital is scheduled to begin on Wednesday 21st January at 10.00am.

Frankie Hodges died as a result of severe oxygen deprivation shortly after being delivered by emergency caesarean section at the Central Delivery Suite of Southend Hospital in March last year. It is thought that his death was caused by an avoidable delay in his delivery.

The inquest at Chelmsford’s Civic Centre will be attended by Frankie’s parents, Ami Solomons Hodges and Russell Lee, who will be represented by specialist medical negligence lawyers from Irwin Mitchell.

Expert Opinion
Frankie’s parents have been left completely devastated by the death of their first child. They have many questions about his birth and they hope that the inquest will provide some opportunity for them to learn more about the events leading to Frankie’s death and whether any lessons can be learnt from it. ”
