National law firm Irwin Mitchell are showing their support to Headway Black Country as they host a Brain Injury Awareness Day in Dudley this month. The event will be taking place at the Dudley Archives, near to the Black Country Museum on Wednesday 25th March and the charity is aiming to raise awareness about the challenges faced by those affected by acquired brain injuries and what services are available to support them.
Headway Black Country is a brain injury rehabilitation service. They offer a wide range of activities in Dudley, Walsall and Wolverhampton which are designed to help brain injury survivors relearn lost skills and gain new ones.
Among the speakers at the event will be Dr Steve Sturmen, from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, and also Client Liaison Manager Kay Harries from Irwin Mitchell who works closely with clients from the firm who suffer from brain injuries to support them.
Stephen Phipps from Headway Black Country said, “Brain injury is a condition with often complex effects for the person directly affected and for their family and friends. We are delighted with the support that we have received from Irwin Mitchell both through welcomed financial contributions at events such as this and their continuing interest and support for the work we do with survivors and their families/carers.”Expert Opinion
We continue to work closely with Headway Black Country and our aim is to raise awareness about brain injuries and the devastating effect they have on the sufferer and their carers.
"Headway provides a vital service to those who have suffered a brain injury and their families, not only for the support they receive but for the opportunity to meet others living with the same condition, giving them the opportunity to talk about their feelings with someone who understands.
“We have seen firsthand that for many of our seriously injured clients, early rehabilitation is crucial to improving their prospects of a better recovery. However, local authority cuts have been threatening Headway's ability to provide support, so it has never been more important to raise awareness.”
