Legal Experts Call For Swift Action To Tackle Problems
Specialist lawyers representing victims and the families of those who have suffered care home neglect or abuse have revealed their hopes for swift action after the Care Quality Commission (CQC) raised concerns regarding Holmdale House on the Isle of Wight.
The home in Havenstreet was rated as inadequate by the organisation following an unannounced inspection at the site at the end of February, where a range of serious issues were identified.
These included residents not being safeguarded from abuse, concerns residents were at risk of developing preventable injuries, incorrect management of medicines and safety precautions not being taken in the storage of oxygen.
The release of the report comes several months after it was revealed police were investigating five deaths linked to Holmdale House, while the CQC has also raised concerns about two other Isle of Wight care homes - Solent Grange Nursing Home and Waxham House – since the start of the year.
Specialist lawyers at Irwin Mitchell’s Southampton office are now calling on authorities on the Isle of Wight to ensure quick action is taken to address the issues raised by the latest CQC report.
