Lawyers Demand Action To Tackle Growing Concerns
Specialist serious injury lawyers in Cambridge have urged local authorities and road safety bodies to take swift action after a spate of crashes on the A14 raise concerns regarding the route.
Two lorries collided on the outskirts of Newmarket on the route yesterday morning, with the incident leading to significant disruption for a number of commuters in the area.
The incident is just the latest in a number of crashes to occur on the A14. At the end of June, there were four crashes in a period of just 24 hours, including a seven-vehicle pile-up in which five people suffered injuries.
Irwin Mitchell’s serious injury lawyers specialise in representing victims left with severe long-term injuries as a result of road traffic collisions, helping them to gain financial support which allows them to access vital services to aid their rehabilitation and recovery.
Expert Opinion
“The number of crashes seen on the A14 in recent weeks is a major concern and clearly something urgently needs to be addressed.

“The concentration of incidents on the A14 and feeder routes in particular taking into account the volume of freight that uses the route to access the national trunk network from the East coast ports is a real cause for concern, and I would urge highways and enforcement authorities to look more closely at this and collaborate on potential steps that could be taken to minimise the risk of further crashes.

“It is vital that all road users recognise the importance of putting the safety of themselves and others first, but promoting the road safety message should also go hand in hand with the consideration of other measures to cut the number of collisions.” Neil Whiteley - Partner
