New Associate To Add Expertise To Law Firm’s South Coast Base

Leading law firm Irwin Mitchell is strengthening its south coast legal team with the appointment of an experienced associate solicitor to head its medical law and patients’ rights team.

The top 20 law firm, which opened a new base in Southampton in April 2014, is a well renowned for its specialist medical negligence lawyers having represented clients impacted by poor standards of care at the Orchid View care home in East Sussex, which resulted in changes to the way all residential care homes are inspected by the Care Quality Commission.

New recruit Justine Spencer has joined as an associate and will lead the medical law team at the South Coast office and brings with her a wealth of experience, with particular expertise in obstetric and paediatric claims involving birth injury, cerebral palsy and brain injuries.

She is recommended by the independent Chambers UK guide as a leading expert in the clinical negligence field and is a recognised member of the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Panel. 

Justine also has senior litigator status with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and claimed The Times’ Lawyer of the Week award following a landmark clinical negligence case where she recovered a substantial settlement for the death of a client’s civil partner.

Justine’s appointment comes after the Southampton office recently also recruited Serious Injury Partner Claire Howard and Family Law associate Jane Longworth.
