Joe, 16, is a very promising, Bristol-born cyclist who currently attends Bristol Grammar School and cycles for Newport Velo.
Irwin Mitchell in Bristol is sponsoring Joe’s kit and equipment, so he is able to continue training at Newport Velodrome, and competing in the Newport Winter Track League.
On 9th December, Joe achieved his season’s best performance in the Newport City Winter Track League at the Newport Velodrome, speeding to two victories and one second place finish.
Joe said: “I am very proud to have received sponsorship from Irwin Mitchell. I have been able to upgrade my track bike and the new kit looks excellent. It is fantastic to know that I have this backing to try and take my performances to the next level this season. This will really open up opportunities for me, helping me further improve my cycling skills and build up more experience.”
Rick Sellers who is Director of Sport at Bristol Grammar School, said: “The school is delighted that Joe has made such progress in his sport. He is a dedicated student who makes excellent use of the curriculum time that we have been able to offer him as he develops into an elite athlete. He is an excellent role model and acts as an inspiration to many of the keen cyclists at BGS.”
