Funds Will Allow Charity To Continue Providing Services To Families Affected By Terminal Illness
The Leeds office of national law firm Irwin Mitchell has donated £31,500 to local charity Wakefield Hospice after a year of fundraising.
Wakefield Hospice provides symptom management and care for people affected by active, progressive and life threatening illness, as well as supporting their family and friends through the difficulties of terminal illnesses and into bereavement.
Staff at Irwin Mitchell Leeds took part in a number of fundraising events for the charity, including completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, hosting The Big Quiz and running a Christmas raffle.
Jane Wright, Leeds’ Regional Managing Partner at Irwin Mitchell, said:
Helen Knowles and Liz Mills from Wakefield Hospice were on hand to collect the cheque at a presentation event at Wellington Place, Leeds.
Helen Knowles, Director of Fundraising at Wakefield Hospice, said: "We're absolutely delighted to receive this fantastic donation from Irwin Mitchell, which will go a long way to helping us continue to provide the help and support for our patients and their families.”
"This level of support can enable us to do so much, and in this uncertain financial climate, it's just fantastic to receive this donation.
“Irwin Mitchell's charity committee has worked extremely hard over the last 12 months and we’d like to thank them for all of their efforts.”
The Leeds office of Irwin Mitchell has this year chosen to raise funds for Eckersley House, which offers a home from home for families when their children need to stay in hospital for treatment.
Almost 40 members of staff took part in an ‘Eck of a Trek’ walk from Sheffield to Leeds raising more than £8,000.
