Guests At Two Marsham Court Wedding Receptions Reportedly Affected By Norovirus
Expert public health lawyers representing victims of illness outbreaks in the UK and abroad are calling for a thorough investigation to begin into the measures taken to prevent the spread of norovirus linked to the Marsham Court Hotel, Bournemouth.
Two separate wedding parties have reported that many of their guests fell ill and now the hotel has been closed by the management in a bid to prevent the illness from spreading
It is reported that both brides and grooms fell violently ill after their wedding day, with one couple continuing to suffer symptoms during their honeymoon in Devon.
In a statement, the management of the hotel said they are working closely with environmental health officials and that the venue will remain closed until Sunday (April 26) while a deep clean is carried out.
Specialist illness lawyers at Irwin Mitchell, who currently represent 122 victims of a recent norovirus outbreak linked to the Exeter Arms in Middlemoor, Exeter are now calling on a thorough investigation into the cause of the outbreak and if anything further could have been done to prevent the spread of the disease to so many guests.
Amandeep Dhillon, a Partner and expert lawyer at Irwin Mitchell, said:Expert Opinion
“Whilst it is welcome that this hotel has closed to allow a deep clean to take place and reduce the potential for the virus to spread further, there are concerns over the number of people who have fallen ill after visiting Marsham Court for two recent wedding receptions.
“Due to the large number of people reportedly falling ill, it is clear that many people will be seeking answers about the cause of the virus.
"We have seen the serious and long-term impact gastric illness of this nature can have on those affected and this should not be forgotten, making it vital that everything possible is done to understand how these illness problems emerged and what could have been done to prevent them.” Amandeep Dhillon - Partner
