Irwin Mitchell in Leeds is making sure the Yorkshire Grand Depart stays ingrained in people’s minds by sponsoring a photo journal from the monumental event.

The book, called The Grandest Depart after the Tour de France Race Director Christian Prudhomme famously uttered the words about Yorkshire’s impressive celebrations, will feature photos by Jude Palmer.

Jude shadowed Welcome to Yorkshire for 12 months, attending shoots throughout the build-up to Le Tour and during the event, filing more than 5,000 images in total. As well as releasing the book, the self-taught photographer is selling an exclusive selection of prints on her website.

Irwin Mitchell in Leeds sponsored the production of the book, which was launched last night (Tuesday 23 September) at a private champagne reception at Harewood House – the official starting point of the 2014 race.

Peter Morris, a Partner and Family Law expert at Irwin Mitchell, said:

Jude said: “The last year of my life has been all about the Tour de France. I have been consumed with it and loved every moment. Just me and my camera capturing as much as I could from the start of the adventure, through to the two stages in Yorkshire and the finish in Paris. I hope I have captured the heart and soul of this historic event for Yorkshire - that was my aim, and I could have filled ten books!”

There will be a series of regional and national events and presentations taking place around the country following the launch, including an exhibition at Hotel du Vin in Harrogate from 25 to 27 September, and an exclusive private view on 9 October at Leica photography studio in London’s Mayfair.

You can find details about the book and Jude’s limited edition prints on her website.
