Laurence Gavin ‘Honoured’ To Support ‘Vital’ Charity
Laurence Gavin, a partner at the Sheffield office of national law firm Irwin Mitchell, has been appointed as a Trustee at St Luke’s Hospice.
St Luke’s provides dedicated expert care for Sheffield people aged 18 and over who have incurable illnesses. The hospice focuses on controlling symptoms, alleviating pain and giving patients the best possible quality of life. It cares for around 1,400 patients each year, and supports their families.
Laurence is a specialist in advising clients in regulated sectors and works with charities, public sector bodies, sports industry companies and FSA-authorised firms, on a range of issues such as joint ventures, funding agreements and constitutional arrangements. He also advises on corporate finance matters such as capital raisings and public takeovers.
In his new role at St Luke’s, Laurence will work with other Trustees to ensure that the hospice continues to be well-governed.
Commenting on his new appointment, Laurence said: “St Luke’s is a tremendously important organisation which plays a vital role across Sheffield. This is a huge honour for me and I’m delighted to be able to support such an important charity.”
Laurence joins twelve other trustees on the board of St Luke’s, under the Chairship of Alex Pettifer MBE, with Deputy Chairs Professor Barry Hancock OBE and Neil MacDonald, Sheffield's Master Cutler 2012-13 and non-executive director at AES Engineering Limited.
