Leeds Law Firm Hosts Seminar On Psychological Impact Of Scarring
Leeds law firm Irwin Mitchell are delighted to confirm that Falklands Veteran Simon Weston OBE will be speaking about his extensive injuries and sharing his personal experiences in a seminar on the psychological impact of scarring held by the law firm in the city.
Simon suffered 46 percent burns to his body whilst he was serving in the Falklands War in June 1982, he boarded the RFA Sir Galahad with other members of his regiment which was then set of fire. He went on to have over 70 major operations and procedures and suffered psychological trauma. However, he was one of the lucky ones; he survived and is here to tell his story today.
He will be accompanied by Dr Koseen Ford, a psychology and neuropsychology consultant, who will be sharing advice and support on the psychological impact of scarring.
The seminar is open to all and will be held at Irwin Mitchell’s Leeds office on Tuesday 4 March from 5:30 to 8:30pm.
Tracey Ager, an aesthetic therapist, will also be sharing her 25 years of experience and discussing aesthetic procedures such as cosmetic procedures and medical tattooing.
Following his injuries, Simon's road to physical, spiritual and mental recovery saw him active in a number of highly successful ventures including 'The Weston Spirit', a Liverpool-based young people's charity. His charitable work earned him an OBE in the 1992 Queen's Birthday Honours. He was also awarded the Freedom of the City of Liverpool in 2002 in recognition of his bravery and his charity work in the region.
