Irwin Mitchell’s Real Estate team in Manchester is in the running to be named as ‘Property Law Firm of the Year’ at next month’s annual North West Property Awards.

Organised by North West Business Insider magazine, the prestigious event will take place at Manchester Central on 15 May 2014 and will highlight excellence across a range of areas including property development, architecture and investment.

Amongst the 14 awards announced on the night will be a prize for ‘North West Property Personality of the Year’ – a category sponsored by Irwin Mitchell.

In addition to being named on the shortlist in the legal category, two of the deals that Irwin Mitchell advised on during the last 12 months are included in the shortlist for ‘Property Deal of the Year’. These transactions are ITV’s disposal of its former ITV Granada headquarters on Quay Street and the sale of Exchange Quay, the 430,000 sq ft office development in Salford Quays.

Other high profile deals that the team has worked on recently include advising Resolution Property on its £71m purchase of the Great Northern Warehouse on Manchester’s Deansgate.

Anita Weightman, partner and Head of Real Estate at Irwin Mitchell in Manchester, said:

Expert Opinion
The North West Property Awards highlight the strength of the real estate market here in the region and we are delighted that Irwin Mitchell has been shortlisted in the legal category.

“Despite challenging market conditions, we have been proud to have been associated with some of the region’s largest most high profile deals. It is great to see a number of these on the shortlist as this further demonstrates our dominant and leading position here in the North West.”

In February last year, Irwin Mitchell recruited four leading real estate partners, Roy Beckett, Anita Weightman, Patrick Duffy and Tony Weightman from DLA Piper. The quartet moved as part of a 14-strong team which included five associates. One of these, Claire Quinn, has since been promoted to partner.
