There is a terrible legacy of failing care homes arising from the CQC’s failure to inspect and manage care homes over recent years. <br/> <br/>“We represent residents and their loved ones who have suffered the devastating consequences poor quality care within care homes can have, most recently in relation to the Orchid View care home where a catalogue of failures came to light during an inquest in 2013 at which we represented a number of families who lost relatives. <br/> <br/>“The CQC have spoken about their increased powers in dealing with failing care homes and it is pleasing that they have stepped in at Sunrise Of Bassett. However, the CQC must effect improvements in the industry and tackle the legacy of the badly managed homes which has led to the neglect of the elderly and vulnerable in our society. Increased accountability and enforcement of sanctions on failing homes is required to ensure care home providers are held accountable if they do not provide care of an acceptable standard.”
