Yasin Dean visited the Aagrah restaurant in Sheffield city centre with friends on the 28 April 2014 but later that night he began to suffer with severe sickness, diarrhoea and stomach cramps, which continued through the night.
Yasin was feeling no better two days later so the 45-year-old, who lives in Rotherham, visited his GP who prescribed him medication, but Yasin’s sickness became progressively worse and on 2 May he was admitted to hospital.
Yasin had to stay in hospital for five days before being discharged on the 7 May.
However, he was unable to work for three weeks because of his illness, which had a big impact on his earnings as a self-employed taxi driver.
Months on, Yasin still continues to suffer from his symptoms, which makes it very difficult for him to do his job. The father of 2 and both of his friends also became ill after the meal – all of them having eaten from the same dishes at the Aagrah Restaurant.
Irwin Mitchell’s specialist UK illness team is now instructed to investigate the cause of the illness.

“The whole experience has been described as very unpleasant and unfortunately left Mr Dean unable to work for three weeks. We have started our investigation into the cause of the illness that our clients suffered and whether it could have been prevented.”
Yasin said: “The symptoms were awful and it was frightening when they became so bad that I had to go to A&E.
“The loss of earnings as a result of the illness and the fact that the symptoms are still making my job difficult months later is putting a real strain on me and my family – it is devastating. I just want answers so that this does not happen to anyone else.”
