The event, which takes place on 21 November at the Carlton Park Hotel in Rotherham, is held annually to celebrate the work of individuals and projects in the voluntary and community sector that have made a significant difference or contribution to the communities in and around Rotherham.
The awards, which are organised by Voluntary Action Rotherham, an organisation dedicated to supporting, developing and promoting the voluntary and community sector in the Rotherham borough, are split into three categories:
– Volunteer – recognising an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the communities in Rotherham.
– Young Volunteer (under 25) – celebrating outstanding contributions by young volunteers.
– Project – recognising a project in Rotherham that has made a difference to the lives of those who live in and around the town.
This year, Irwin Mitchell’s Sheffield office is sponsoring the Project award, with Alison Gregory and Kerry Hadley, expert personal injury lawyers from Irwin Mitchell’s Sheffield office attending the event.
Alison said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring such a prestigious award in the volunteering community, which recognises the work local people do to get vital projects off the ground. Without the voluntary sector many people would not get the support and advice they need to be able to live their lives to the best of their ability and the impact of people providing their assistance for free across South Yorkshire is incredible.
