Irwin Mitchell Bristol Working With South West Patient Consultancies
Bristol law firm Irwin Mitchell is working in partnership with two patient consultancies based in the South West, Palladium Patient Safety and South West Care Skills, to raise awareness of the importance of good hydration and nutrition to improve patient care.
Both organisations have direct experience of identifying where better nutrition and hydration may have improved experience and outcomes for patients.
Palladium Patient Safety is an independent consultancy led by registered nurses, Annette Marshall and Nicola Henderson. They use their expertise to assist healthcare organisations in all aspects of governance and patient safety.
South West Care Skills is run by registered nurse Jane Buswell a specialist nurse providing support to staff to ensure optimal care is provided to older people in a range of care settings.
Irwin Mitchell is supporting the World Wide Tea Parties arranged by Annette, Nicola and Jane as sponsored events during ‘Nutrition and Hydration’ week. The aim is to promote good hydration and nutrition in patients and residents in all health and social care locations by showing how staff can help patients improve nutritional intake and ensure standards meet national guidelines.
Coffee morning and tea party events will take place at The Manor House care home in Weston-Super-Mare and on Kewstoke Ward at Weston General Hospital on 19th March.
Five trainee solicitors from Irwin Mitchell will be on hand on the day to serve coffee, tea and refreshments to residents at the care home and help raise awareness about adequate nutrition and hydration.
Natalie Jones is a medical law expert at Irwin Mitchell’s Bristol office.
Annette Marshall, from Palladium Patient Safety, said: “We are looking forward to working with the healthcare teams and Irwin Mitchell to raise the profile of this worthwhile cause.
“Adequate nutrition and hydration is a basic need and it is vital that all healthcare facilities across the country comply with nutritional guidelines to ensure all patients and residents have their nutritional needs catered for. This affords a positive impact on patient experience, and may improve the outcome for patients and residents.”
