Irwin Mitchell Will Support Eight Local Charities In 2014
Leading national law firm Irwin Mitchell has named one local charity in each of its eight UK offices to support as Charity of the Year.
Every year, the employees in Irwin Mitchell’s national offices nominate a new charity to support with their fundraising efforts, donating the proceeds of charitable activities throughout the year to their chosen cause.
The Charity of the Year initiative is part of the work of the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation (IMCF), an independent, registered charity set up by the partners and employees of Irwin Mitchell. The Foundation last year reached a remarkable milestone, having donated more than £1m to worthy causes since its formation in 1997.
The local office Charities of the Year for 2014 are:
- Birmingham – The Alzheimer’s Society Birmingham and Solihull, works to improve the quality of life of those in the West Midlands who are affected by dementia.
- Bristol – BRACE, which funds research into Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
- Irwin Mitchell Scotland – Buddies Clubs and Services, provides play/leisure, social, vocational and recreational opportunities for a range of children, young people and adults with additional support needs in the Glasgow area.
- Leeds – Wakefield Hospice, a local palliative care facility which supports those with cancer and life-limiting illnesses.
- London – The Lodge, a 40-bed housing project providing older people who have been rough sleeping with support to recover from homelessness.
- Manchester – East Cheshire Hospice, which cares for people affected by life-limiting illnesses to improve their quality of life.

“Our staff are very supportive of the charities we get involved with and Irwin Mitchell is committed to being a socially responsible organisation which is passionate about helping the local community.
“Whilst we often have a lot of fun, and carry out some hard work, during our charity challenges, it is often very humbling to be involved with some fantastic causes and help others who may not be as fortunate as ourselves.” Adrian Budgen - Partner
