Expert Medical Lawyers Help Family Seek Answers

An inquest is to be held for a Birmingham great grandmother who died of kidney failure two weeks after she was admitted to Heartlands Hospital with a chest infection.

Agnes Power, from Chelmsley Wood died on 31 March 2012, aged 75, in Heartlands Hospital after two weeks of treatment for a chest infection.

HM Coroner for Birmingham Louise Hunt will hold the inquest, listed for a duration of two hours at 2pm on Tuesday 1 July at Birmingham Coroner’s Court.

Mrs Power’s husband Derek has instructed medical law experts at Irwin Mitchell to represent the family at the inquest and to investigate whether more could have been done to prevent Mrs Power’s death.

Rebecca Risby, a medical law expert at Irwin Mitchell representing the family, said: “Agnes’ entire family have found it extremely hard to come to terms with their loss.

“Although nothing will bring her back, the family cannot begin to look to the future until they have answers about the circumstances leading to her death and they very much hope that the inquest will shed light on the circumstances which led to her death.”
