West Midlands Lawyers Take On City Building To Raise Funds For Bereavement Charity
A group of seven lawyers from a Birmingham law firm took on the challenge of abseiling 100ft down a Birmingham landmark to raise vital funds for a child and family bereavement charity based in the heart of the city.
The leap of faith took place at Birmingham’s Brindley Place last weekend on Sunday 8 June where seven members of the Medical Law and Patients’ Rights team at Irwin Mitchell abseiled down the towering building.
Edward’s Trust are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, the charity was set up by Peter and Hilary Dent, after their son Edward died, they decided to try and help other families. Edward's Trust was set up in 1989 to fulfil that very personal mission. They provide an invaluable service of bereavement counselling to the individuals and families who have lost loved ones across the West Midlands.
The brave lawyers included Tom Riis Bristow, Mark Cawley, Olivia Jenkins, Ryan Blake, Adam Wright, Hollie Orgee and Scott Tolliss raised over £500 for the charity.
Tom Riis Bristow, medical law expert from Irwin Mitchell’s Birmingham office, said: “We are all very proud that we stepped up to this nerve wracking challenge and successfully completed it all to help raise money for Edward’s Trust which is a charity close to our hearts; as often our clients have lost loved ones due to sudden accidents and injuries and need help to come to terms with their news situation. Edward’s Trust provides an essential service in helping them.
