Event Described As 'Arts Patronage At Its Best'

An innovative jazz arrangement commissioned by Irwin Mitchell for this year’s Manchester Jazz Festival has received rave reviews following its first public performance. 

The ‘Irwin Mitchell mjf originals’ piece was one of the highlights of the 10 day music festival and saw fast-emerging guitarist and composer, Anton Hunter, perform his piece – article 11 – on 24th July at the city’s revamped Central Library.

The Manchester Evening News described it as “a great event and a good example of arts patronage at its best.” The article added that Anton Hunter’s suite of music “panned out beautifully into a suite of eight arrangements.”  

Irwin Mitchell announced earlier this year that it has agreed to become the official sponsor of the mjf originals series for the next three years.

Grahame Codd, Regional Managing Partner of Irwin Mitchell’s Manchester office, said:

“We have a close affiliation with the Manchester Jazz Festival.  Anita Weightman, who heads up our Real Estate team in Manchester, has been a trustee of mjf for the past four years.  We have been delighted to assist them on a pro-bono basis in relation to some of their key sponsorship and supply agreements, and also their relocation to new headquarters on Fountain Street.

“The mjf originals scheme is a great opportunity to highlight and support upcoming talent and we are delighted to be involved. The evening provided us with a great opportunity to get involved with a key event in the city’s cultural calendar whilst providing a networking opportunity for both our BLS and PLS divisions.
