Residents Living Close To Llandow Blaze Urged To Keep Windows Shut
Firefighters are continuing to work to tackle another major blaze at the Vale Business Park in Llandow, the second at the site in the past month alone.
Vale of Glamorgan Council has revealed that South Wales Fire and Rescue were called to the industrial estate in the early hours of this morning (November 26th) following reports of a fire.
It has been confirmed that the blaze, which is thought to focus on various types of recycled materials, is in a different part of the park to another one which was seen at the start of month.
Andrew Thomas, assistant chief fire officer, said those living nearby should keep windows and doors closed, even though it has been confirmed there is no asbestos within the building.
He added: “Crews are in the process of dealing with the fire and preventing any further spread to the surrounding properties.
“As a precaution, we ask the public and local businesses to be vigilant, as we move the necessary resources we require, around the site and utilise the water supplies we need.”
Expert Opinion
Any form of major blaze on an industrial estate is a major concern, but this case is particularly worrying as it has come just weeks after another massive fire at the same location. <br/> <br/>"Both businesses based in the area and residents living nearby will be very concerned by these developments and will want answers over not only how this happened but how it will also be avoided again in the future. <br/> <br/>"While at present it appears no one has been hurt in this incident, this does not mean that the importance of a comprehensive investigation should be ignored. Everything possible must be done to learn lessons from this case so that the same circumstances are not repeated in the future with much greater consequences."
