Seminars To Explain How Divorce Affects Pensions and Trusts

Financial Planners and IFAs Invited to Attend Special Family Law Seminar Series

19.03.2013

Irwin Mitchell's Family Law team is holding a series of special breakfast seminars at its Sheffield office to help Independent Financial Advisors (IFAs) and financial planners to understand more about divorce.

Experts from the law firm will be running interactive sessions covering two specialist topics at their Riverside East offices in Sheffield:

  • Thursday 25 April 8am to 10am - Wills and Trusts
  • Monday 29 April 8am to 10am - Pensions and Divorce

The presentations will help people to understand the current rules, regulations and case law in relation to wills, trusts and pensions on divorce, using interactive case studies to show how lawyers and Courts deal with what are often the largest assets a husband and wife have.

Alison Fernandes, an expert family and divorce lawyer at Irwin Mitchell’s Sheffield office, said: “Pensions are often one of the largest assets that a couple has but can often be complicated to try and sort out during a divorce. We advise many IFAs on family law issues and these seminars are especially for financial advisors to learn more about how divorce impacts on trusts and pensions.

“The sessions will be informative and interactive and led by our specialist Wills and Pensions teams.”
