Deals Update
It has certainly been a busy couple of months for Irwin Mitchell in Yorkshire, with the corporate and real estate teams across both offices advising on a range of high profile transactions in the region and further afield.
The newly launched Yorkshire-based banking and finance team certainly got into its stride quickly, advising banking giant HSBC on its £14m refinancing of Naylor Industries. Dean Gormley led the team, with specialist real estate advice provided by Martyn Holland and pensions support from Leeds-based pensions partner Nigel Bolton. Dean was also involved in advising listed urban regeneration and strategic land specialist, MJ Gleeson Group plc, on its refinancing with The Co-operative Bank.
Proving its ability to support cross border deals, Irwin Mitchell’s corporate team helped AESPUMP complete its acquisition of the James Walker Pump and Valve Refurbishment division of James Walker Benelux. Closer to home, Kevin Cunningham also advised AES Engineering on its purchase of AV Technology, whilst Matt Ainsworth helped Rotherham-based Cepac Limited on three acquisitions of complementary packaging businesses.
Other recent deals include the Leeds office advising Ingenuity Digital Holdings (IDH) on its acquisition of Wetherby-based web design and development agency NetConstruct.
The real estate team across Yorkshire has had a busy few months too. In addition to some exciting projects to be announced over the coming months, Irwin Mitchell has advised Sheffield Hallam University on the sale of its land off Psalter Lane to Bellway Homes and completed over £100m of property acquisitions in just five months for the Mansion Student Accommodation Fund.
