Breakfast Boost For Sheffield Pupils Irwin Mitchell Gives School Breakfast Club Donation To Help Extend Support To Five Days Per Week 15.10.2012 Leading law firm Irwin Mitchell is helping the Emmaus Catholic and Church of England School in Sheffield to extend its breakfast club to help get pupils off to the best start each day. Emmaus Primary School on Southend Rd, Sheffield will now be launching its breakfast club service five days a week after the donation from Irwin Mitchell helped cover costs such as an extra fridge freezer to store food. Over many years the law firm supported an initiative at the school to reward excellent attendance which is proven to have an impact on results and achievement. Following the results achieved in this area, the firm was keen to look at alternative ways to support children at the school. The subsidised breakfast club run by volunteer parents alongside a member of staff previously ran for three days per week offering healthily food for children.. David Urpeth, a specialist injury lawyer at Irwin Mitchell, said: “It’s well known that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it is really important that school children are given the opportunity to get a healthy start before school. “Over the past few years the attendance initiative sponsored by Irwin Mitchell has proved to be a great way of encouraging children to stay motivated at school. Initiatives like this are really important in building a child's self esteem and improving their aspirations." Helen Simmerson, Headteacher at the school, said: “The breakfast club is really important in making sure our children get off to the best possible start each day and the support from Irwin Mitchell has helped us to provide this on a daily basis. "The attendance programmes that Irwin Mitchell has helped with in recent years have been fantastic and we now have one of the highest attendance records in the city. Obviously, good attendance is the first step in helping our children to achieve their potential and so we really appreciate the support that Irwin Mitchell has given us in the past." Irwin Mitchell has a long history of supporting the community and is just one of two law firms nationally to be ranked in the CR Index for its social responsibility work.
