Police Investigation Two Separate Incidents In Fife And Edinburgh
Investigations are underway after serious road traffic accidents north of the border in Fife and Edinburgh respectively, which led to the deaths of two people and left another with serious head injuries.
A 37-year-old woman and 18-year-old girl were killed on Tuesday evening (November 27th) on the B981 in Kirkcaldy after reportedly being struck by a Land Rover close to a supermarket.
Fife Constabulary is now appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.
In a separate incident, a 31-year-old pedestrian was struck by a lorry in the Tollcross area of Edinburgh early on Wednesday morning (November 28th).
Lothian and Borders Police are investigating and have appealed for witnesses, while the man is being treated at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
Elaine Russell, a serious injury expert and Partner at Irwin Mitchell’s Glasgow office, said it was vital that every effort is made to fully investigate the incidents.
She outlined: “These two terrible incidents highlight the huge consequences that road accidents can have on those involved, particularly when pedestrians are involved.
“On numerous occasions we have helped pedestrians gain justice after they have been left with serious injuries following such collisions, seeing first-hand the huge effect that such incidents can have on those affected.
“Very little is so far known about these but it is clear that answers need to be gained over what happened in each case to ensure that lessons can be learned.”
