New Administration Figures ‘A Welcome Boost For Yorkshire Manufacturers’

Corporate recovery specialists at Irwin Mitchell have welcomed new research which suggests that Yorkshire manufacturers have improved their links to international markets in the recent months.

According to figures from Deloitte, the number of administrations involving manufacturers in the region has fallen in the first three quarters of 2012 from 250 to 208.

Commentators have suggested the fall can be link to better targeting by companies in the sector, as they look to break into international markets and take advantage of growth opportunities which can be developed.

Andrew Walker, a Partner and corporate recovery specialist at Irwin Mitchell’s Leeds office, said that the figures were a positive sign in what remains a difficult economic climate.

He explained: “These figures are a positive sign that, at a time when the Eurozone and the US continue to face difficulty, businesses in our region have chosen to grasp the nettle and take decisive action to boost their development.

“This movement into international markets, assisted by weak sterling, is a very encouraging sign and hopefully the trends identified in these figures will continue over the coming months.”
