Hearing Related To Death Begins This Week

The inquest into the death of a Dudley grandfather who died of heart failure after a routine knee operation will begin on 25 June and his devastated family hope to finally get answers about what happened.

Robert Collett, 62, from Halesowen died suddenly on 9 February 2011 after undergoing knee replacement surgery at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham that same day.

He left behind his heartbroken wife Angela, three children and two grandchildren.

The inquest into his death will be held by Coroner Aiden Cotter at Birmingham Coroners Court and is expected to last for four days.

Speaking on behalf of the family Laura Ralfe, a medical law expert at Irwin Mitchell’s Birmingham office, said: “Robert’s family have been left completely shocked and devastated by his death and hope the inquest will provide answers about what happened so they can begin to come to terms with it.”
