Police Working With Health And Safety Authorities
An investigation is under way after a 60-year-old Oxfordshire man died in a work accident involving a forklift truck last week.
Reports have revealed that South Central Ambulance Service were called to a Jewsons unit in Banbury where a man had been seriously injured after being run over by the vehicle.
The local man was taken to Horton General Hospital following the incident but died soon afterwards. Police have confirmed they have contacted health and safety authorities to help them with enquiries following the incident.

David Urpeth, head of workplace injury at Irwin Mitchell, said: “While only a few details have so far been confirmed in relation to this incident, it is vital that both police and other authorities work quickly to determine what happened and how the man came to be hurt.
“It is particularly important that the investigation considers whether any safety failings could have contributed to the incident, as well as more importantly how the work accident could have been prevented.
“Traffic management is an important aspect of workplace safety and I hope that lessons can be learned from this case which will ensure other people will not be hurt in a similar manner in the future.”
