Heartbroken Family Hope For Answers
An inquest is due to take place on Thursday 20th December to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a baby boy.
Lucas Josef Fermor was born at Warwick Hospital on 29th May 2012. He was initially treated in the hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit and later that day was transferred to Leicester Royal Infirmary’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Despite the best efforts of doctors there, his devastated parents were told that nothing more could be done to save Lucas.
Following a christening held in the hospital, Lucas was taken off life support and died in the arms of his parents at 9.30pm on May 31st 2012.
HM Deputy Coroner for Coventry and Warwickshire, Louise Hunt, will hold the inquest, listed as a one-day hearing, at the Coroner’s Court in Leamington Spa, starting at 1.30pm.
Guy Forster, a medical law expert at Irwin Mitchell’s Birmingham office, is representing parents Natasha and Kent Fermor, who are from Coventry in the West Midlands.
He said: “The couple have understandably found it extremely hard to come to terms with what happened and very much hope that the inquest will shed light on the circumstances which led to the death of their only child.”
