Safety Expert Calls For Lessons To Be Learned From Crash

Holyhead Coastguard has revealed that a man suffered a leg injury in a collision involving two sea scooters which happened in Anglesey at the end of last month.

The organisation revealed that the man, believed to be in his 20s, was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd hospital in Bangor following the incident at Traeth Bychan.

According to the BBC, further information has suggested that the incident involved a 13-year-old boy who was not qualified or insured to use the vehicle, with the coastguard describing the machines as “very dangerous” equipment in “the wrong hands”.

Andre Grayson, a legal specialist at Irwin Mitchell who represents victims left with serious injuries as a result of accidents in public places, said it was vital that everything possible was done to shed more light on the incident.

She said: “It is hugely concerning that this crash may have involved a youngster who was not experienced enough to be using these kind of scooters, but it is also clear that the information available on the incident remains very sketchy.

“It is vital that an investigation is held to examine all aspects of this incident to determine how this collision occurred. Issues of specific interest will include the claims over whether users had sufficient training and whether any technical fault could have played a part.

“Ultimately, it is important that lessons can be learned so no one else faces the same problems in the future.”
