New report Calls For Removal Of Red Tape
New proposals to reform the child protection system and improve the support given to youngsters in need have been announced.
Professor Eileen Munro has carried out a review into current services suggested a range of changes, including the removal of targets and red tape in favour of allowing social workers to spend more time providing support to families.
She has also suggested that a national chief social worker post should be created to represent the profession and provide views to the government, as well as a greater focus to be placed on developing the skills of those involved in the area.
Experts at Irwin Mitchell represent a number of people who have been affected physically and emotionally by child abuse and neglect, helping victims to gain the justice they deserve in order to rebuild their lives following early, tragic and avoidable experiences of abuse and neglect.
Tracey Storey, a Partner and expert in child abuse claims, said: “It is positive news to see a concerted effort being taken to improve the levels of advice and support in relation to child protection issues.
“Better development of skills and the opportunity for social workers to spend more time with children at risk should help to ensure that more children are protected from harm.
“It is very difficult for anyone who has suffered child abuse or neglect to recover from the psychological impact of such problems. However, I hope these reforms will ensure the safety and protection of children always comes first and as a result less children suffer harm.”
