Sue Weatherson Joins Law Firm
Leading national law firm, Irwin Mitchell, has appointed Sue Weatherson as its new Director of Risk and Compliance.
Sue, who reports directly to Irwin Mitchell’s National Managing Partner, John Pickering, will have overall responsibility for ensuring the firm complies with its regulatory requirements, whilst also making sure the firm manages risk appropriately across its legal and support functions.
Previously the Director of Risk and Compliance at Withers LLP, Sue replaces Partner Louise Sykes who will now focus on leading Irwin Mitchell’s fast-growing Wills, Trust and Estate Disputes team.
Commenting on her appointment at Irwin Mitchell, Sue said: “I’m excited to be joining Irwin Mitchell and very much look forward to building on the excellent work done by my predecessor.
“2011 is a significant year for the legal profession, particularly in relation to the SRA’s new Outcomes-Focused Regulations. These will have a huge impact on the sector because although it will mean fewer rules for solicitors, it will importantly see a greater focus on the quality of what solicitors deliver to clients and consumers. It’s crucial that a firm of Irwin Mitchell’s standing takes a lead on this.”
John Pickering, National Managing Partner at Irwin Mitchell, added: “Sue has a proven track record in relation to managing a law firm’s risk strategy and compliance procedures. I’m delighted she has joined the firm and I have no doubt that she will be a valuable and important addition to the management team as we continue to develop and grow.”
