Road Closed Following Collision With Lorry
A driver has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a coach, which was carrying schoolchildren from Croatia, collided with a lorry in Berkshire this morning (July 12th).
Up to 20 of the 41 people on board the coach suffered minor injuries – including facial cuts – during the crash, which happened on the A417 close to the Oxfordshire border. They were treated by paramedics at a local school.
According to the BBC, the road was closed following the incident and Thames Valley Police have since confirmed that they have arrested the 43-year-old driver of the coach. The lorry driver was not hurt.
Personal injury specialists at Irwin Mitchell provide support to a number of people who have suffered both minor and serious injuries in road traffic collisions in the UK and abroad. The firm’s group actions team are currently acting for the families of schoolchildren hurt in a recent bus crash in Chesterfield earlier this year.
Gary Walker, a solicitor at the firm’s Sheffield office, said: “News of this crash is very concerning and I hope that the emergency services work quickly to get to the bottom of just how the crash came to occur.
“From our experience in such cases, it is undeniable that bus crashes of this kind can have both physical and psychological impact on the youngsters involved.
“For the sake of all of those involved, as well as their families, it is clear that answers are needed as to why it happened.
“Such information could prove vital in ensuring lessons are learnt from this and also in ensuring no one else is hurt in a similar manner.”
