Charity Benefits From £1,600 Donation
A charity providing international aid to children in some of the world’s poorest countries has received a welcome boost from a group of musical Glasgow schoolchildren.
Tony Begley from children’s charity Mary’s Meals attended a presentation hosted by law firm Irwin Mitchell this week to receive the generous donation of £1,600 from St Joan of Arc’s secondary school.
The children, who all have additional needs, worked with local employers Irwin Mitchell, call centre Response and McVitie's, to showcase their vocal talents on new CD, Archaeology.
The CD was a smash hit and generated profits of £1,600 for the charity, which provides food aid to children in countries such as Malawi and Haiti. The amount raised will provide food for 260 children for an entire year.
Elaine Russell, partner at Irwin Mitchell, who attended the evening reception for the cheque presentation said: “The children, parents, teachers and employers have done an outstanding job in raising such a large amount of money for an excellent cause. We are dedicated to backing local charity efforts and it was great to be involved in this a dynamic fundraiser with such tremendous people.”
