Expert Hopes For Successful Outcome
Chris Jones, insolvency partner at the Manchester office of national law firm Irwin Mitchell, advised the management team at Auto Windscreens on its restructuring options ahead of the decision to place the company into administration this week.
Auto Windscreens has its head office in Chesterfield and employs 1,100 members of staff. The company had an annual turnover of £63m with 68 fitting centres across the UK and 550 mobile units.
Administrators from the Birmingham office of Deloitte cited poor revenues in the final quarter of 2010, and the loss of a major customer as key reasons for the company's difficulties.
Chris Jones said: "It is very sad to see a business the size and stature of Auto Windscreens being placed into administration, particularly as there are so many jobs at risk.
"The business suffered significant cash flow problems during the last few months and despite efforts to raise further finance, it simply could not continue to trade even in the short-term.
"Partners at Deloitte continue to seek the investment that the business needs and we hope a successful outcome is found soon."
