Pedestrian Left With Serious Head Injury
A pedestrian who was struck by a driver while crossing a road on New Year’s Eve is appealing for witnesses to help with an investigation into the accident.
Tanya Jones, 36, from Salford, was crossing Oxford Road, opposite the BBC buildings in Manchester, at approximately 9pm on New Year’s Eve when she was hit by a white Volkswagen Golf GTI.
Ms Jones was initially attended to by passing medical students, and then later by paramedics who took her to Manchester Royal Infirmary. She suffered a serious head injury and a broken arm.
Serious injury specialists at law firm Irwin Mitchell are now investigating the circumstances of the accident on behalf of Ms Jones, and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or attended to Ms Jones to come forward.
Tanya said: “New Year’s Eve is supposed to be a night of fun and celebration, but mine was over before it had barely begun.”
Ashwini Kamath, a solicitor in the serious injury team at Irwin Mitchell, said: “The accident occurred at a busy time on Oxford Road, so must have been witnessed by a significant number of people.
“We urge anybody who has any information about the incident to come forward and contact us.”
