Worker Suffers Facial Injury
A man has been airlifted to hospital in the West Midlands after being seriously injured while using machinery in industrial premises.
The worker, believed to be in his 30s, was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham after suffering a facial and neck injury in the work accident which took place on Talbots Lane, Brierley Hill this morning (August 19th).
According to the BBC, emergency services are now investigating what happened at the premises.
David Urpeth, national head of workplace injuries at Irwin Mitchell, helps workers pursue their compensation claims following injuries sustained in work accidents.
He said: “It is vital that the emergency services and authorities assess the background to this incident and, more importantly, how it could have been prevented.
“Like many of the cases we are involved in, this incident highlights the risks which can emerge in the workplace and why it is so important for employers to ensure they are fully compliant with safety regulations.
“Time and again we see the same mistakes made in relation to health and safety, and it is clear that answers are needed over whether health and safety problems contributed to the incident here.”
