Audit Critical Of Service Quality

The NHS has been urged by a leading lawyer to improve the levels of care it offers in relation to incontinence, after a new report revealed the problems faced by people with such conditions.

Yogi Amin, who has experience of cases across the country relating to healthcare, has spoken out after the National Audit of Continence Care suggested that a lack of organisation in NHS services related to the issue is leaving many patients with “a life sentence” of suffering.

Amin said: “A lack of proper incontinence services could prompt a legal challenge by an individual or a group, in the High Court, to seek to force the local NHS Trust to provide these services and end patient’s suffering.”  

Published by the Royal College of Physicians, the publication revealed that both the diagnosis and treatment of incontinence is often poor at best, while many bodies tend to have no one person specifically responsible for improving and developing related services.
